The Shadow Social Care Minister has pledged to scrutinise the Welsh Labour administration after it announced today (April 29) a £10-million package to transition people from hospital to home as they recover from COVID-19 (Coronavirus). So far, the UK Government has allocated some £2 billion to tackle the pandemic in Wales.
Janet Finch-Saunders AM said:
“Social care staff are some of the real champions in the struggle against Coronavirus, and so I welcome the announcement today, which we hope will provide them with the tools and the capacity to help people recover in the best place for them: home.
“However, what we need to see is how the £10m will be allocated on the ground and what practical steps are going to be taken by health boards, local government, and the third sector to facilitate this, and so, as ever, we will be keenly scrutinising the funding allocation.”
