Shadow Welsh Conservative Social Care Minister and AM for Aberconwy, Janet Finch-Saunders AM, welcomed the UK Health Secretary’s announcement that plans are being drawn up to allow loved ones to say goodbye to dying relatives in care homes. She said:
“Families will be right behind the Health Secretary, Matt Hancock’s plans to make it easier for them to say goodbye to dying relatives in care homes.
“Family members’ final encounters with a dying relative is, not only very emotional, but will live with them forever.
“And that is why I urge the Welsh Government to act swiftly and replicate the UK Government’s announcement here in Wales.
“Too many families have been unable to say goodbye to their loved ones during this pandemic. My heart goes out to all those affected.”
