Janet Finch-Saunders, Member of the Welsh Parliament for Aberconwy, is pleased to be cooperating with Cartrefi Conwy, Llandudno Town Council, and Cllr Thomas Montgomery to pursue an action plan to help improve pest control for residents living at the Tre Creuddyn Estate, Llandudno.
Several constituents have highlighted that they have sightings of rats on a regular basis around the estate but more worryingly, within their homes. There are reports of these pests within the attic void, and even living rooms, which is causing understandable distress and anxiety.
The actions taken so far include:
- Writing to Cartrefi Conwy, who are the Registered Social Landlords for the majority of the homes, to see if support can be provided to homes who may need some additional Pest Control assistance;
- Contacting the Head of Environment, Roads, and Facilities, Conwy County Borough Council, to request the placing of some communal skips in the area, and because of their budgetary constraints, now Llandudno Town Council;
- Updating residents;
- Liaising with Cllr Thomas Montgomery who is one of the elected County Councillors for the Ward.
Commenting on the action plan to control the rats on the estate, Janet said:
“An estate wide approach is required so to help protect public health, so I am pleased to be pursuing an action plan to help the community and reduce the distress being caused to so many.
“The latest action I have taken is writing to Llandudno Town Council to ask that they kindly consider adding the future provision of community skips to a forthcoming finance committee agenda. Conwy Town Council already provides community skips bi-annually in areas where their residents struggle to remove household waste themselves, which I have heard great feedback about, so it would be brilliant if Llandudno Town Council could do the same for its residents.
“I am grateful to Cllr Thomas Montgomery, Cartrefi Conwy, Llandudno Town Council, Conwy County Borough Council, and most importantly, local residents, for their cooperation so far. By working together we can improve pest control. Should you like to be kept updated on this matter please do get in contact”.
Cllr Thomas Montgomery, County Councillor for Tudno Ward added:
"I am grateful for Janet Finch-Saunders’ support on this important issue. I have been working on this issue with my residents since I was elected a little over 18 months ago. I have met with both officers from Conwy Council and Cartrefi Conwy to discuss the need for a new approach and also taken part in community litter picks within the ward.
“Although there has been some progress, with a commitment for new bins to be installed, street cleaning crews to attend the area and two site visits with Council officers more still needs to be done.
“While it is clear that we need to re-asses waste management strategies to best enable local residents to dispose of waste in a socially responsible and environmentally friendly way, I am pleased that Llandudno Town Council is looking to provide support. I will be pushing to ensure that resources are allocated to provide community skips for Llandudno during Llandudno Town Council’s budget setting process”.

Mae Janet Finch-Saunders, Aelod o’r Senedd dros Aberconwy, yn falch o gydweithio â Cartrefi Conwy, Cyngor Tref Llandudno, a'r Cynghorydd Thomas Montgomery i gyflwyno cynllun gweithredu i helpu i reoli plâu yn well i drigolion sy'n byw ar ystad Tre Creuddyn, Llandudno.
Mae llawer o'r etholwyr wedi tynnu sylw at y ffaith eu bod yn gweld llygod mawr yn rheolaidd o amgylch yr ystad ond yn fwy pryderus, yn eu cartrefi. Mae pobl wedi adrodd eu bod yn yr atig, ac ystafelloedd byw hyd yn oed, ac mae hyn yn achosi trallod a phryder dealladwy.
Mae'r camau a gymerwyd hyd yn hyn yn cynnwys:
- Ysgrifennu at Cartrefi Conwy, sef y Landlordiaid Cymdeithasol Cofrestredig ar gyfer mwyafrif y cartrefi, i weld a oes modd darparu cymorth i gartrefi sydd angen cymorth ychwanegol i reoli plâu;
- Cysylltu â Phennaeth yr Amgylchedd, Ffyrdd a Chyfleusterau, Cyngor Bwrdeistref Sirol Conwy, i ofyn am osod rhywfaint o sgipiau cymunedol yn yr ardal, ac oherwydd eu cyfyngiadau cyllidebol, Cyngor Tref Llandudno hefyd bellach;
- Rhoi’r wybodaeth ddiweddaraf i breswylwyr;
- Cydlynu gyda'r Cynghorydd Thomas Montgomery, un o'r Cynghorwyr Sir etholedig ar gyfer y Ward.
Wrth sôn am y cynllun gweithredu i reoli'r llygod mawr ar yr ystad, dywedodd Janet:
“Mae angen dull gweithredu ar draws yr ystad er mwyn helpu i ddiogelu iechyd y cyhoedd, felly rwy'n falch o ddilyn cynllun gweithredu i helpu'r gymuned a lleihau'r poen meddwl i gymaint.
“Y cam diweddaraf rwyf wedi'i gymryd yw ysgrifennu at Gyngor Tref Llandudno i ofyn yn garedig iddyn nhw ystyried ychwanegu'r ddarpariaeth sgipiau cymunedol yn y dyfodol at agenda pwyllgor cyllid sydd ar ddod. Mae Cyngor Tref Conwy eisoes yn darparu sgipiau cymunedol ddwywaith y flwyddyn mewn ardaloedd lle mae eu trigolion yn cael trafferth cael gwared ar wastraff cartref eu hunain, ac rwyf wedi clywed adborth gwych am hyn, felly byddai'n wych pe gallai Cyngor Tref Llandudno wneud yr un peth dros eu trigolion nhw.
“Rwy'n ddiolchgar i'r Cynghorydd Thomas Maldwyn, Cartrefi Conwy, Cyngor Tref Llandudno, Cyngor Bwrdeistref Sirol Conwy, ac yn bwysicaf oll, trigolion lleol, am eu cydweithrediad hyd yma. Trwy weithio gyda'n gilydd, gallwn reoli plâu yn well. Os hoffech dderbyn yr wybodaeth ddiweddaraf ar y mater hwn, cysylltwch â ni”.
Ychwanegodd Thomas Montgomery, Cynghorydd Sir Ward Tudno:
"Rwy'n ddiolchgar am gefnogaeth Janet Finch-Saunders ar y mater pwysig hwn. Dwi wedi bod yn gweithio ar y mater hwn gyda'r trigolion ers i mi gael fy ethol ychydig dros 18 mis yn ôl. Rwyf wedi cyfarfod â swyddogion Cyngor Conwy a Cartrefi Conwy i drafod yr angen am ffordd newydd o weithredu a hefyd wedi cymryd rhan mewn digwyddiadau casglu sbwriel cymunedol o fewn y ward.
“Er bod rhywfaint o gynnydd wedi bod, gydag ymrwymiad i osod biniau newydd, trefnu bod criwiau glanhau stryd yn mynychu'r ardal a dau ymweliad safle gyda swyddogion y Cyngor, nid da lle gellir gwell.
“Er ei bod hi'n amlwg bod angen i ni ailasesu strategaethau rheoli gwastraff er mwyn galluogi trigolion lleol i waredu gwastraff mewn ffordd gymdeithasol-gyfrifol ac ecogyfeillgar, rwy'n falch bod Cyngor Tref Llandudno yn ceisio darparu cefnogaeth. Byddaf yn pwyso i sicrhau bod adnoddau'n cael eu dyrannu i ddarparu sgipiau cymunedol i Landudno yn ystod proses pennu cyllideb Cyngor Tref Llandudno”.
