Janet Finch-Saunders, Member of the Welsh Parliament for Aberconwy, has spoken of her delight at Alpine Travel’s decision to extend the Conwy Valley Fflecsi bus service to include Dolwyddelan.
On 11 February 2023 the T19 bus service between Llandudno and Blaenau Ffestiniog ended, despite a petition led by Janet Finch-Saunders MS being signed by over 700 people.
The impact of the termination include:
- Frequency of services, including lack of evening and Sunday services;
- Access to Ysgol Dyffryn Conwy and Coleg Llandrillo from Gwynedd;
- Access to employment, especially as there are no late evening services, meaning that people can only work office hours if relying on a bus;
- Getting to healthcare appointments at hospitals, GPs, optometrists, and dentists;
- Being able to access shops and leisure activities;
- Feelings of isolation;
- Environmental issues.
For over half a year Janet Finch-Saunders MS has been contacting Welsh Government, Transport for Wales, Conwy County Borough Council, and Gwynedd County Council so to encourage public sector cooperation.
The Member of the Welsh Parliament for Aberconwy has also worked closely with both Llew Jones and Alpine Trevel, which has led to the extension of the Fflecsi bus to Dolwyddelan.
Commenting on this public transport development, Janet said:
“I would like to thank Chris Owens, Alpine Travel, who has given me so much of his time to discuss solutions to the crisis caused by the termination of the T19.
“For over half a year we have known that extending the Fflecsi to Dolwyddelan was a potential option, so I am disappointed that Transport for Wales did not enable it to happen sooner.
“Alpine Travel’s agreement to extend the Fflecsi will go a long way to support a community that had been left feeling isolated, so I believe that I speak for all when saying a big thank you to Chris Owens and his team!
“It remains the case that there is still a need for more frequent public transport links between Blaenau Ffestiniog and Llandudno, especially so to empower students to travel by bus or train to and from Ysgol Dyffryn Conwy and Coleg Llandrillo. I can assure you that I am continuing to pressure Lee Waters MS, Deputy Minister for Climate Change, to take action. My latest letter to him is dated 24 August 2023”.

Mae Janet Finch-Saunders, Aelod o’r Senedd dros Aberconwy, wrth ei bodd gyda phenderfyniad Alpine Travel i ymestyn gwasanaeth bws Fflecsi Dyffryn Conwy i gynnwys Dolwyddelan.
Ar 11 Chwefror 2023 daeth gwasanaeth bws T19 rhwng Llandudno a Blaenau Ffestiniog i ben, er i dros 700 o bobl lofnodi deiseb dan arweiniad Janet Finch-Saunders AS.
Mae effaith y terfyniad hwn yn cynnwys:
- Amlder gwasanaethau, gan gynnwys diffyg gwasanaethau gyda'r nos a dydd Sul;
- Mynediad i Ysgol Dyffryn Conwy a Choleg Llandrillo o Wynedd;
- Mynediad at gyflogaeth, yn enwedig gan nad oes gwasanaethau hwyr y nos, sy'n golygu mai dim ond pobl sy'n gweithio oriau swyddfa sy'n gallu dibynnu ar fws;
- Cyrraedd apwyntiadau gofal iechyd mewn ysbytai, a gyda meddygon teulu, optometryddion, a deintyddion;
- Cyfleoedd siopau a gweithgareddau hamdden;
- Pobl yn teimlo’n ynysig;
- Materion amgylcheddol.
Mae Janet Finch-Saunders AS wedi bod yn cysylltu â Llywodraeth Cymru, Trafnidiaeth Cymru, Cyngor Bwrdeistref Sirol Conwy, a Chyngor Sir Gwynedd ers dros hanner blwyddyn er mwyn annog cydweithredu yn y sector cyhoeddus.
Mae'r Aelod o'r Senedd dros Aberconwy hefyd wedi gweithio'n agos gyda chwmnïau Llew Jones ac Alpine Travel, a dyma sydd wedi arwain at ymestyn y bws Fflecsi i Ddolwyddelan.
Wrth sôn am y datblygiad trafnidiaeth gyhoeddus hwn, dywedodd Janet:
“Hoffwn ddiolch i Chris Owens, Alpine Travel, sydd wedi rhoi cymaint o'i amser i mi er mwyn trafod atebion i'r argyfwng a achoswyd yn sgil terfynu'r T19.
“Ers dros hanner blwyddyn rydyn ni'n gwybod bod ymestyn gwasanaeth Fflecsi i Ddolwyddelan yn opsiwn posib, felly rwy'n siomedig nad oedd Trafnidiaeth Cymru wedi galluogi i hynny ddigwydd yn gynt.
“Bydd cytundeb Alpine Travel i ymestyn Fflecsi yn mynd yn bell i gefnogi cymuned oedd wedi'i hynysu, felly dwi'n credu fy mod i'n siarad dros bawb wrth ddweud diolch o galon i Chris Owens a'i dîm!
“Mae gwir angen cysylltiadau trafnidiaeth gyhoeddus amlach o hyd rhwng Blaenau Ffestiniog a Llandudno, yn enwedig felly er mwyn helpu myfyrwyr i deithio ar fws neu drên i Ysgol Dyffryn Conwy a Choleg Llandrillo ac yn ôl. Gallaf eich sicrhau y byddaf yn parhau i bwyso ar Lee Waters AS, y Dirprwy Weinidog Newid Hinsawdd, i weithredu. Anfonais fy llythyr diweddaraf ato ar 24 Awst 2023”.
