Commenting on the latest figures on COVID-related deaths in care homes, published today (June 23), Janet Finch-Saunders – the Shadow Minister for Social Care – said:
“While of course acknowledging that each death is a terrible loss for families and friends, we welcome what seems to be a continuing downward trend in the numbers of people dying in care homes.
“However, looking at the figures it seems that Cardiff outstrips all other authorities with the number of care home deaths.
“This is particularly concerning as Cardiff and Vale University Health Board had 38 homes – 25.2 percent – left to be tested at the start of last week.”
