Across Wales the tourism sector is facing an employment crisis, leading to UK Hospitality Cymru stating that: “Ongoing hospitality recruitment and skills issues in Wales are limiting the visitor experience, damaging business viability and threatening to derail the industry recovery”.
Further outlining in her speech in the Welsh Parliament, Janet said.
“The approach taken by the UK Government to assist with jobs and employability demonstrates the progress being made post-pandemic. As an example, Llandudno has received £400,000 of Community Renewal Funding in a winter wage subsidy so that hotels and other tourism businesses in the town can retain staff out of season.”
Commenting further, Janet said.
“Here in Wales, we need a clear commitment to be made in a Stronger, fairer, greener Wales. A plan that maximises employability and skills within a new era of a green industrial revolution. There is no reason why the Welsh Government can accept my proposals as making this transition, will allow us to support and encourage employers to create high quality jobs.”
