The Member of the Welsh Parliament for Aberconwy – Janet Finch-Saunders MS – has today (23 June) been appointed as the Welsh Conservative group Commissioner for the Sixth Senedd. The Senedd is required by law to appoint Commissioners who are responsible for providing the Welsh Parliament with the staff and resources they need to carry out their roles effectively for the people of Wales.
Commenting on her nomination, Janet said:
“I am delighted to have been appointed by my colleagues in the Senedd to become the Welsh Conservative Commissioner for the Sixth Senedd. The Commission carries out a vitally important role, upholding the efficient and effective running of this vital democratic institution.
“The extraordinary challenge of the last year has rightly placed an increased spotlight on the workings of the Senedd Commission and I look forward to increasing this transparency further. I will also be working to ensure that the money spent is done so in an appropriate and measured fashion, as the people of Wales would expect.
“I now look forward to getting to work, particularly as the Senedd looks to begin the process of opening itself up to the public for visits after an extended period of closure due to the Coronavirus pandemic."
