Janet Finch-Saunders, Member of the Welsh Parliament for Aberconwy, has praised NetworkRail for the steps they are taking to repair the Conwy Valley railway line.
The track was damaged during the floods on New Year’s Eve and New Year's Day. Over 2.5-miles of the track washed out between Dolgarrog and Llanrwst North, and there is damage to a few level crossings and two structural issues to bridges that require further inspections and remedial work.
Track stones have started to be delivered to the site yesterday so that the team can replenish the missing stones.
Transport for Wales have organised rail replacement services to run between Llandudno and Blaenau Ffestiniog.
Commenting on the damage to the railway line, Janet said:
“I welcome the speed with which NetworkRail have assessed the damaged, planned, and commenced the repair works to this beautiful line.
“It is reassuring that a bus replacement service is in place so that communities are not deprived of a vital public transport link.
“I hope that all residents will be reassured that NetworkRail are working as quickly as they can to get the line back up and running”.
