Concerns have been raised to the North Wales Police and Crime Commissioner by the MS for Aberconwy regarding the brand new police station in Llanrwst.
During a recent visit to the police station the Member of the Welsh Parliament for Aberconwy discovered that the building has no bell, nor other direct means of contacting officers in the building from outside.
The speaker system fitted to the side of the building directs visitors to a call centre, not the officers inside.
Speaking after her visit, Janet said:
“I would like to thank the hardworking officers at the station. The difficult communication is not their fault.
“Officers and the community have been put in an invidious position. It is completely unacceptable that the public cannot easily notify officers inside the station that they are outside needing help.
“It is also entirely unacceptable that officers when realising that a member of the public is stood outside have to then place themselves at risk by opening the door for a discussion.
“The station design is not conducive to a professional service for our community, nor does it succeed in safeguarding both the public and officers.
“I have today written to the North Wales Police and Crime Commissioner to ask that urgent solutions be put in place to resolve this issue.”
Mae'r AS dros Aberconwy wedi codi pryderon gyda Chomisiynydd Heddlu a Throseddu Gogledd Cymru ynghylch yr orsaf heddlu newydd sbon yn Llanrwst.
Yn ystod ymweliad diweddar â'r orsaf heddlu, canfu'r Aelod o'r Senedd dros Aberconwy nad oes gan yr adeilad gloch nac unrhyw ddull uniongyrchol arall o gysylltu â swyddogion yn yr adeilad o'r tu allan.
Mae'r system seinydd sydd wedi'i gosod ar ochr yr adeilad yn cyfeirio ymwelwyr at ganolfan alwadau, yn hytrach na'r swyddogion y tu mewn.
Wrth siarad ar ôl ei hymweliad, dywedodd Janet:
“Hoffwn ddiolch i'r swyddogion yn yr orsaf, sy'n gweithio'n galed iawn. Nid eu bai nhw yw'r broblem gyfathrebu hon.
“Mae swyddogion a'r gymuned wedi cael eu rhoi mewn sefyllfa annymunol. Mae'n gwbl annerbyniol na all y cyhoedd roi gwybod i'r swyddogion y tu mewn i'r orsaf eu bod nhw angen help y tu allan.
“Mae'n gwbl annerbyniol hefyd fod rhaid i swyddogion sy'n sylweddoli bod aelod o'r cyhoedd yn sefyll y tu allan roi eu hunain mewn perygl drwy agor y drws i gael sgwrs.
“Nid yw cynllun yr orsaf yn ffafriol i wasanaeth proffesiynol i'n cymuned, ac nid yw'n llwyddo chwaith i ddiogelu'r cyhoedd a swyddogion.
“Rydw i wedi mynd ati heddiw i ysgrifennu at Gomisiynydd Heddlu a Throseddu Gogledd Cymru i ofyn am i atebion brys gael eu rhoi ar waith i ddatrys y mater hwn.”
