Council cuts: More scrutiny of Labour decision-making required
Commenting on calls for further debate on the impact of local government budget cuts – within a joint open letter from all of Wales’ 22 council leaders – Welsh Conservative Shadow Minister for Local Government, Janet Finch-Saunders AM, said:
“Frontline services in Labour-run Wales are under clear pressure and I agree that far more scrutiny is required in the Labour government’s decision-making process.
“With day-to-day services under increasing pressure, Labour cuts to the local government budget must be properly debated, analysed and scrutinised.
“Welsh Conservatives remain dismayed at eye-watering senior officer pay bands and recent scandals have highlighted the clear need for an urgent review of senior pay.”
