Janet Finch-Saunders, Member of the Welsh Parliament for Aberconwy, has spoken of her delight after receiving an update on dental care services by Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board.
In January, the local Health Board responded to Janet’s letter and advised that they had submitted proposals to the Welsh Government, in an effort to secure funding to increase dental services in priority areas. Some of these areas are within Aberconwy, namely Betws-y-Coed, Conwy and Llandudno.
Speaking in January, Janet said:
“These plans will come as a great relief to so many people struggling with access to dental services.
“As the Health Board notes, the procurement will be for additional activity in existing practices or for set up of new practices, and has a total combined value of £1.3m p.a. that is recurrent funding.
“BCUHB, along with the Welsh Government, must now ensure that these plans come to fruition.”
On 16 March, the Health Board updated the Member of the Welsh Parliament, stating:
“In February, the Welsh Government greenlit the proposal. As such, the procurement team now aim to start the tendering process which should be live in April.”
Speaking after securing this positive update, Janet said:
“After raising concerns about access to dental care on a number of occasions, it comes with great relief that the Welsh Government have agreed to the dental procurement exercise which should directly benefit Aberconwy.
“Ultimately, this project could lead to new practices and easier access to dental care in rural and urban areas of the constituency.
“I hope that Betsi Cadwaladr succeed to get the tendering process up and running by April. My constituents have already waited long enough for direct action to improve dental care in the constituency.”
ENDS
Mae Janet Finch-Saunders, Aelod o’r Senedd dros Aberconwy, wedi dweud pa mor falch yw hi yn sgil derbyn diweddariad ar wasanaethau gofal deintyddol gan Fwrdd Iechyd Prifysgol Betsi Cadwaladr.
Ym mis Ionawr, ymatebodd y Bwrdd Iechyd lleol i lythyr Janet yn dweud eu bod wedi cyflwyno cynigion i Lywodraeth Cymru, yn y gobaith o sicrhau cyllid i gynnig mwy o wasanaethau deintyddol mewn ardaloedd â blaenoriaeth. Mae rhai o'r ardaloedd hyn yn Aberconwy, sef Betws-y-coed, Conwy a Llandudno.
'Nôl ym mis Ionawr, dywedodd Janet:
“Bydd y cynlluniau hyn yn rhyddhad mawr i gymaint o bobl sy'n cael trafferth cael gafael ar wasanaethau deintyddol.
“Fel y dywed y Bwrdd Iechyd, byddan nhw'n caffael gweithgareddau ychwanegol mewn deintyddfeydd sy'n bodoli'n barod neu’n sefydlu practisau newydd, sy'n werth cyfanswm o £1.3 miliwn y flwyddyn o arian rheolaidd.
“Rhaid i Fwrdd Iechyd Betsi Cadwaladr a Llywodraeth Cymru sicrhau bod y cynlluniau hyn yn dwyn ffrwyth yn awr.”
Ar 16 Mawrth, cafodd AS Aberconwy ragor o fanylion gan y Bwrdd Iechyd:
“Fe wnaeth Llywodraeth Cymru roi sêl bendith i'r cynnig ym mis Chwefror Yn sgil hynny, nod y tîm caffael yw dechrau'r broses dendro a ddylai gychwyn ym mis Ebrill.”
Mewn ymateb i'r diweddariad cadarnhaol hwn, dywedodd Janet:
“Ar ôl lleisio pryderon am fynediad at ofal deintyddol ar sawl achlysur, mae'n rhyddhad mawr fod Llywodraeth Cymru wedi cytuno i'r ymarferiad caffael deintyddol a ddylai fod o fudd uniongyrchol i Aberconwy.
“Yn y pen draw, gallai'r prosiect arwain at bractisau newydd a mynediad haws at ofal deintyddol yn ardaloedd gwledig a threfol yr etholaeth.
“Gobeithio y bydd Betsi Cadwaladr yn llwyddo i roi'r broses dendro ar waith erbyn mis Ebrill. Mae fy etholwyr wedi disgwyl yn ddigon hir eisoes am gamau uniongyrchol i wella gofal deintyddol yn yr etholaeth."
