Janet Finch-Saunders MS has slammed the Welsh Government’s “stealth tax on health”.
The Member of the Welsh Parliament for Aberconwy has highlighted the imposition of prescription delivery charges on patients.
It comes despite the Welsh Government’s commitment to free prescriptions for all across Wales.
Commenting on the revelations, Janet said:
“I am deeply concerned by the current situation of prescription delivery charges.
“The failures of the Welsh Government here represent a stealth tax on health.
“Of course, the burden will fall most heavily on those who can least afford it.
“This is completely at odds with the Welsh Government’s policy of free prescriptions.
“It was famously Aneurin Bevan who resigned from a Labour Government over their introduction of prescription charges.
“How ironic then that a Welsh Labour Government is now presiding over a regime of prescription charges for so many vulnerable people.
“This risks the development of a two-tier system, where only those who can afford to pay for these deliveries receive their medication.
“The Minister for Health must urgently explain this situation”.

Mae Janet Finch-Saunders AS wedi beirniadu’n hallt "treth lechwraidd ar iechyd" Llywodraeth Cymru.
Mae’r Aelod o’r Senedd dros Aberconwy wedi tynnu sylw at godi ffioedd i ddanfon presgripsiynau at gleifion.
Daw er gwaethaf ymrwymiad Llywodraeth Cymru i bresgripsiynau am ddim i bawb ledled Cymru.
Wrth sôn am y datgeliadau, dywedodd Janet:
"Mae'r sefyllfa bresennol o godi tâl am ddanfon presgripsiwn yn peri pryder mawr i mi.
"Mae’r methiannau hyn gan Lywodraeth Cymru yn gyfystyr â threth lechwraidd ar iechyd.
"Wrth gwrs, bydd y baich yn cael ei deimlo waethaf gan y rhai fydd yn cael y drafferth fwyaf i’w fforddio.
"Mae hyn yn gwbl groes i bolisi Llywodraeth Cymru ar gyfer presgripsiynau am ddim.
"Mae Aneurin Bevan yn enwog am ymddiswyddo o Lywodraeth Lafur pan gyflwynwyd taliadau presgripsiwn.
"Mae’n hynod eironig fod Llywodraeth Lafur Cymru bellach yn arwain trefn o godi taliadau presgripsiwn ar gymaint o bobl fregus.
"Mae hyn yn peryglu datblygiad system ddwy haen, lle mai dim ond y rhai sy'n gallu fforddio talu am wasanaeth danfon fydd yn derbyn eu meddyginiaeth.
"Rhaid i'r Gweinidog Iechyd egluro'r sefyllfa hon ar unwaith".
