Commenting on the news story that some key workers could receive as little as £125 of the £500 bonus offered by the First Minister last month, Janet Finch-Saunders MS – the Shadow Minister for Social Care – said:
“This is further evidence that the First Minister’s no doubt well-intentioned offer was made without reference to HMRC and without any real consideration made to establish if it would affect any benefits these valued and vital employees receive.
“The Welsh Labour Government dangled a £500 carrot in front of their noses, and should now work out how it can stick to giving the full amount to each recipient.”
