Janet Finch-Saunders MS – Shadow Minister for Climate Change, Energy and Rural Affairs – has used Wales Climate Week, which runs until November 6, as an opportunity to renew Welsh Conservative calls to decarbonise the economy. Mrs Finch-Saunders added that recovery from the pandemic must also focus on decarbonisation.
She said:
“In the midst of this pandemic, it’s easy to focus on Covid, but there are still many other pressing problems in our world, not least of which is the environment.
“Climate change is among the greatest challenges of our time, and our nation’s Covid-19 recovery offers an unparalleled opportunity to help stimulate the creation of long-term green-collar jobs that will help Wales more effectively meet its carbon emission targets in the years to come.
“Welsh Conservatives will continue to press for sensible and targeted business-first plans that help to nurture jobs and cut emissions, because bold and innovative leadership is required now more than ever in to sustain clean economic growth into the future.”
