During the Welsh Conservative Party Conference, Janet Finch-Saunders MS, Shadow Minister for Climate Change, participated in a panel discussion regarding “Wales powering the green revolution”.
During the discussion Janet called for the Welsh Government to work with the private sector to deliver a green revolution, including by working to encourage private sector businesses to transfer to electric vehicles and to see public transport electrified also.
Commenting after conference Janet said:
“I was delighted to participate in a panel discussion along with Virginia Crosbie MP for Ynys Mon, David Hickling of RWE and Ivan Baldwin of Bechtel.
“Wales is on the cusp of a green revolution, a momentous period of change and transformation which has the potential to deliver thousands of green and well-paid jobs across our community, as well as helping our society to deliver on its climate and environmental commitments.
“Despite this opportunity, it is clear that this transformation cannot be done by the Welsh Government alone. Ministers in Cardiff Bay need to recognise that they must work with the private sector in order to green up our economy at the pace required to address climate change.
“While the UK Government announce nuclear power plans for Wales the Welsh Government continue at their snail like pace. For Wales to maximise the potential of the green revolution we require immediate action, such as a National Marine Development Plan, support for private hydro schemes, and, a willingness to trial micro-grids in North Wales.”

Janet Finch-Saunders AS yn croesawu ymrwymiad y Ceidwadwyr Cymreig i fynd i'r afael â'r argyfwng tai
Yn ystod Cynhadledd Plaid y Ceidwadwyr Cymreig, fe wnaeth Janet Finch-Saunders AS, Gweinidog yr Wrthblaid dros Newid Hinsawdd, gymryd rhan mewn trafodaeth banel ynghylch "Cymru'n pweru'r chwyldro gwyrdd”.
Yn ystod y drafodaeth, galwodd Janet ar Lywodraeth Cymru i weithio gyda'r sector preifat i sicrhau chwyldro gwyrdd, gan gynnwys annog busnesau'r sector preifat i drosglwyddo i gerbydau trydan a thrydaneiddio trafnidiaeth gyhoeddus hefyd.
Wrth siarad wedi'r araith, dywedodd Janet:
“Roeddwn wrth fy modd o gymryd rhan mewn trafodaeth banel ar y cyd â Virginia Crosbie Aelod Seneddol Ynys Môn, David Hickling o RWE ac Ivan Baldwin o Bechtel.
“Mae Cymru ar drothwy chwyldro gwyrdd, cyfnod tyngedfennol o newid a thrawsnewid sydd â'r potensial i ddarparu miloedd o swyddi gwyrdd sy'n talu'n dda ar draws ein cymuned, yn ogystal â helpu ein cymdeithas i gyflawni ei hymrwymiadau o ran yr hinsawdd a'r amgylchedd.
“Er gwaetha'r cyfle hwn, mae'n amlwg na all Llywodraeth Cymru wneud y trawsnewidiad hwn ar ei ben ei hun. Mae angen i Weinidogion Bae Caerdydd gydnabod bod yn rhaid iddyn nhw weithio gyda'r sector preifat er mwyn gwneud ein heconomi'n fwy gwyrdd ar y raddfa sydd ei hangen i daclo newid hinsawdd.
“Tra bod Llywodraeth y DU yn cyhoeddi cynlluniau ynni niwclear ar gyfer Cymru, mae Llywodraeth Cymru yn dal i lusgo traed. Er mwyn i Gymru fanteisio i'r eithaf ar botensial y chwyldro gwyrdd, mae angen i ni weithredu ar unwaith, megis cael Cynllun Datblygu Morol Cenedlaethol, cymorth ar gyfer cynlluniau ynni dŵr preifat, a pharodrwydd i dreialu micro-gridiau yn y Gogledd."
