Speaking in the Senedd Janet Finch-Saunders, Member of the Welsh Parliament for Aberconwy gave a speech celebrating Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, for her 70 years of service to Wales being marked by the Platinum Jubilee.
Commenting on the national occasion in the Senedd, Janet said.
“Across Llandudno and the rest of the constituency, the council have already approved 8 street closures for Jubilee Street parties, with many more tea parties being held in gardens and homes. Most importantly this is a time for us to reflect on and celebrate Her Majesty’s reign and the service she has given to all four nations, its territories, and the commonwealth nations. Her Majesty has been a figure head of our nation of 70 years and has served as a stead-fast leader.”
“Her Majesty has demonstrated the great ability to perform diplomatically through the numerous envoys she has taken part in and has promoted our nation as a beacon for innovation in the modern world.”
Across the UK, the nation is gearing up for ceremonial occasions through the likes of military parades, concerts, and garden parties. Furthermore, on a local level, numerous street parties are being arranged so that communities can join in on the festivities.
Commenting further, Janet said.
“In Llandudno, we’ve had the pleasure of welcoming Her Majesty the Queen on several occasions. First in 1963 than in 1977 and most recently in 2010. I have such respect for Her Majesty and the Royal Family and for the work they have done to support charities nationwide. Such respect is locally recognised by the naming of a park called Mountbatten Green and a care home called Queen Elizabeth Court. As the people of Aberconwy prepare for this celebration I would like to take this opportunity to thank and congratulate Her Majesty on this historic occasion.”
