The Member of the Welsh Parliament for Aberconwy, Janet Finch-Saunders, has hailed the late Queen Elizabeth II’s funeral as showcasing “The Best of Britain”, as the country took the time to reflect on the life and memory of our longest reigning Monarch.
Speaking about the service, Janet Finch-Saunders said:
“Yesterday’s funeral for the late Queen Elizabeth II was a breath-taking and humbling experience that showcased the very best of Britain, its history and the link between the traditional and modern Britain which her late Majesty oversaw during her 70-year reign.
“Though it was a sad occasion, with many feeling a sense of immense loss, it was also an opportunity to reflect on the duty and dedication to our country that her late Majesty showed from the moment she became Queen in 1952, right up to her unfortunate passing.
“I felt particularly proud of our armed forces, thousands of whom did an amazing job at ensuring the service went perfectly and our Queen received a send-off befitting her immeasurable sacrifice for our country.
“ I, for one, felt very proud to be British and to be a small part of what has turned out to be an incredibly unifying event for our country.
“Her late Majesty is now at peace, re-united with her husband, the late Prince Philip. I echo the words of Paddington Bear when I say thank you Ma’am, for everything.”
