Janet Finch-Saunders MS is urging businesses to take on more apprenticeships as part of National Apprenticeship Week.
The Member of the Welsh Parliament for Aberconwy has highlighted the crucial need for apprenticeships given the skills challenges being faced by the UK economy.
National Apprenticeship Week is currently being celebrated from 6th – 12th of February 2023.
The theme for this year is ‘Skills for Life’.
National Apprenticeship Week brings together the entire apprenticeship community to celebrate everything that is amazing about apprenticeships.
Speaking today, Janet said:
“I welcome National Apprenticeship Week.
“This is a fantastic opportunity to learn a new trade, at a time when the economy is facing crucial skills gaps.
“Apprenticeships and vocational qualifications should have equal parity of esteem with academic learning, and this week is an opportunity to champion that cause.
“I would encourage every local business who can to take on an apprentice, and give our young people the practical, hands-on skills that they need.
“The Welsh Government should be providing all the support possible to make this happen”.
