Janet Finch-Saunders, Member of the Welsh Parliament for Aberconwy, has hailed the Spring Budget 2023 by the Chancellor, Jeremy Hunt, as “the UK Government delivering for Wales”.
Benefits for Wales include:
- An additional £180 million for the Welsh Government
- the Energy Price Guarantee set at £2,500
- A freeze to fuel duty
- £20m to support restoration of the historic grade 2 listed Holyhead Breakwater
- £175,000 to save the last remaining pub in a village in Denbighshire
- An investment zone
- Support for 2,000 public houses and bars in Wales through Draught Relief
Commenting after the budget, Janet said:
“Through this budget, the UK Government is delivering for Wales. It is helping those struggling with the cost of energy, investing in our businesses and projects that can boost economic growth, and encouraging people stay in work.
“Now it is the turn of the Labour Government in Wales to fully use the additional funding it is receiving to support the people of Wales.
“The Welsh Labour Minister for Finance should bring an urgent oral statement before the Welsh Parliament outlining how she intends to spend the additional £180m. The last thing we want to see is that money wasted on more vanity projects like Cardiff Airport, roads to nowhere, and Universal Basic Income”.

Mae Janet Finch-Saunders, yr Aelod o’r Senedd dros Aberconwy, wedi galw Cyllideb y Gwanwyn 2023 gan y Canghellor, Jeremy Hunt, fel "Llywodraeth y DU yn cyflawni dros Gymru".
Mae’r buddion i Gymru yn cynnwys:
- £180 miliwn yn ychwanegol i Lywodraeth Cymru
- Gwarant Pris Ynni o £2,500
- Rhewi tollau tanwydd
- £20 miliwn i gefnogi’r gwaith o adfer y morglawdd hanesyddol rhestredig Gradd 2 yng Nghaergybi
- £175,000 i achub y dafarn olaf mewn pentref yn Sir Ddinbych
- Parth buddsoddi
- Cefnogaeth i 2,000 o dai tafarn a bariau yng Nghymru drwy’r Rhyddhad Cwrw Drafft
Wrth sôn am y gyllideb, dywedodd Janet:
"Drwy'r gyllideb hon, mae Llywodraeth y DU yn cyflawni dros Gymru. Mae'n helpu'r rhai sy'n cael trafferth gyda chostau ynni, mae’n buddsoddi yn ein busnesau a'n prosiectau a all hybu twf economaidd, ac yn annog pobl i aros mewn gwaith.
"Nawr, tro Llywodraeth Lafur yng Nghymru yw defnyddio'r cyllid ychwanegol y mae'n ei dderbyn yn llawn i gefnogi pobl Cymru.
"Dylai Gweinidog Cyllid Llafur Cymru ddod â datganiad llafar brys gerbron y Senedd yn amlinellu sut y mae'n bwriadu gwario'r £180m ychwanegol. Y peth olaf rydyn ni eisiau ei weld yw bod arian yn cael ei wastraffu ar fwy o brosiectau diwerth fel Maes Awyr Caerdydd, ffyrdd i unman, ac Incwm Sylfaenol Cyffredinol".
