Janet Finch-Saunders, Member of the Welsh Parliament for Aberconwy, has spoken of her delight after visiting Ysgol San Siôr with her Welsh Conservative colleague, the Shadow Minister for Education, Laura Anne Jones MS.
Both Members visited the school to meet the staff, pupils and the amazing ark of animals that are normally found in the wild, or on a farm! The school has swapped it’s traditional gold fish for amphibians, bees and chickens.
Ysgol San Siôr provides a rich environment for pupils inside and outside of the classroom. The children are taught the core subjects such as English, Maths and Welsh, and take part in additional projects such as beekeeping and egg production.
Speaking after the visit, Janet said:
“It was a joy to visit the school once again and see how they focus on the environment, Climate Change, and conservation initiatives. There is no doubt that the school is fostering the responsible citizens of the future.
“It is wonderful to see how the school incorporate different animals into the curriculum, teaching pupils important life and business skills.
“The Headteacher, Mr Ian Jones and all the team should be proud that they have created an exceptional centre for education which is providing an ideal environment for young people to learn and thrive!”
Laura Anne Jones, Shadow Minister for Education added:
“It was wonderful to visit Ysgol San Siôr and experience first-hand the wonderful learning environment they provide for students.
“The school was brimming with positivity, encouragement of entrepreneurship. The hands-on experience and learning with numerous animals and outside projects should be celebrated.
“I hope to see this vision and idea of learning shared across Wales.”

Ymwelodd y ddau Aelod â'r ysgol i gwrdd â'r staff, y disgyblion a'r arch anhygoel o anifeiliaid sydd fel arfer i'w gweld yn y gwyllt, neu ar fferm! Mae'r ysgol wedi cyfnewid eu pysgod aur traddodiadol am amffibiaid, gwenyn ac ieir.
Mae Ysgol San Siôr yn darparu amgylchedd cyfoethog i ddisgyblion y tu mewn a thu allan i'r ystafell ddosbarth. Addysgir y pynciau craidd fel Saesneg, Mathemateg a Chymraeg i’r plant, ac maen nhw’n cymryd rhan mewn prosiectau ychwanegol fel cadw gwenyn a chynhyrchu wyau.
Meddai Janet ar ôl yr ymweliad:
"Roedd yn bleser ymweld â'r ysgol unwaith eto a gweld sut maen nhw'n canolbwyntio ar yr amgylchedd, Newid yn yr Hinsawdd a mentrau cadwraeth. Does dim dwywaith bod yr ysgol yn meithrin dinasyddion cyfrifol y dyfodol.
"Mae'n wych gweld sut mae'r ysgol yn ymgorffori gwahanol anifeiliaid yn y cwricwlwm, gan ddysgu sgiliau bywyd a busnes pwysig i ddisgyblion.
"Dylai'r Pennaeth, Mr Ian Jones, a'r tîm cyfan fod yn falch eu bod wedi creu canolfan addysg eithriadol sy'n darparu amgylchedd delfrydol i bobl ifanc ddysgu a ffynnu!"

"Roedd yn wych ymweld ag Ysgol San Siôr a chael profiad uniongyrchol o'r amgylchedd dysgu gwych y mae’r ysgol yn ei ddarparu i fyfyrwyr.
"Roedd yr ysgol yn annog entrepreneuriaeth mewn ffordd gadarnhaol iawn. Dylid dathlu'r profiad uniongyrchol, y dysgu gyda chynifer o anifeiliaid a phrosiectau yn yr awyr agored.
"Rwy'n gobeithio gweld y weledigaeth a'r syniad hwn o ddysgu yn cael ei rannu ledled Cymru."
