Janet Finch-Saunders, Member of the Welsh Parliament for Aberconwy, held a public meeting on the evening of Friday 7th July for local residents so that they could express their concerns about local matters.
Joining the Member on the panel was Deputy Mayor of Llandudno, Cllr Mike Pearce, Town Cllr Ian Turner and newly appointed, Inspector Catherine Walker from North Wales Police.
During the meeting, a number of issues were raised affecting the local town and residents. These were:
- Great Orme Goats
- Roads
- Health Service
- Lack of Maintenance
- Llandudno Hospital
- Anti-Social Behaviour
- Paddling Pools
- North Shore Beach
Speaking after the meeting, Janet said:
“I was shocked to learn that Llandudno Town Council and local residents have not been provided with a copy of the goat management plan, and that Conwy County Borough Council are washing their hands of the problem as soon as they are on private land. This is not the correct way forward for local residents”.
During the meeting, Janet shared good news on Llandudno Hospital after visiting it earlier in the day. She said:
“We now have a new Stroke Unit that opened in December 2022 to ease pressure on acute hospitals. So far it has successfully supported 81 patients and it seems that we have other services coming here but they need a business case.
“There is a gym as part of the Stroke Unit and I have spoken with Cllr Mike Pierce about the lack of funds at the Unit. There is about £9,000 with the Llandudno Hospital Action Group that I am going to ask to be spent, at least in part, at the Unit to better improve the services.
Inspector Catherine Walker spoke during the meeting in response to concerns about on anti-social behaviour.
The meeting attendees heard North Wales Police (NWP) ask for community support. Any incident, please report it to NWP straight away so that they can investigate and take appropriate action.
Finally, commenting on North Shore Beach, Janet said
“I want to highlight the excellent work that Cllr Ian Turner has done on the beach campaign. We want sand on our beach and the petition is nearly at 6,000 signatures!”
“I believe that the petition, and the people of the town are driving this campaign but we need more signatures”
“I was informed last week that CCBC are going to fund an economic impact assessment for putting sand back on the beach, in terms of tourism amenity funding, rather than flood defence. We are making progress, so I thank the community for its continued cooperation.”

Cynhaliodd Janet Finch-Saunders, yr Aelod o’r Senedd dros Aberconwy, gyfarfod cyhoeddus nos Wener 7 Gorffennaf ar gyfer trigolion lleol er mwyn iddynt allu mynegi eu pryderon am faterion lleol.
Ar y panel gyda’r Aelod roedd Dirprwy Faer Llandudno, y Cynghorydd Mike Pearce, y Cynghorydd Tref Ian Turner a'r Arolygydd Catherine Walker o Heddlu Gogledd Cymru sydd newydd ei phenodi.
Yn ystod y cyfarfod, codwyd nifer o faterion sy'n effeithio ar y dref a'r trigolion lleol, sef:
- Geifr Pen y Gogarth
- Ffyrdd
- Gwasanaeth Iechyd
- Diffyg Cynnal a Chadw
- Ysbyty Llandudno
- Ymddygiad Gwrthgymdeithasol
- Pyllau Padlo
- Traeth y Gogledd
Wrth siarad ar ôl y cyfarfod, dywedodd Janet:
“Cefais fraw o glywed nad yw Cyngor Tref Llandudno a thrigolion lleol wedi derbyn copi o'r cynllun rheoli geifr, a bod Cyngor Bwrdeistref Sirol Conwy yn golchi eu dwylo o'r broblem cyn gynted ag y byddant ar dir preifat. Nid dyma'r ffordd gywir ymlaen i drigolion lleol”.
Yn ystod y cyfarfod, rhannodd Janet newyddion da am Ysbyty Llandudno ar ôl bod yno yn gynharach yn y dydd. Meddai:
“Mae gennym ni Uned Strôc newydd erbyn hyn a agorodd ym mis Rhagfyr 2022 i leddfu'r pwysau ar ysbytai acíwt. Hyd yma mae wedi llwyddo i gynorthwyo 81 o gleifion ac mae'n ymddangos bod gennym wasanaethau eraill yn dod yma ond mae angen achos busnes arnyn nhw.
“Mae campfa’n rhan o'r Uned Strôc ac rwyf wedi siarad gyda'r Cynghorydd Mike Pierce am y diffyg arian yn yr Uned. Mae gan Grŵp Gweithredu Ysbyty Llandudno tua £9,000 ac rwyf yn mynd i ofyn iddyn nhw ei wario, yn rhannol o leiaf, yn yr Uned i wella'r gwasanaethau.
Siaradodd yr Arolygydd Catherine Walker yn ystod y cyfarfod mewn ymateb i bryderon ynghylch ymddygiad gwrthgymdeithasol.
Clywodd mynychwyr y cyfarfod bod Heddlu Gogledd Cymru yn gofyn am gymorth gan y gymuned. Rhowch wybod i’r Heddlu ar unwaith am unrhyw ddigwyddiad, fel eu bod nhw’n gallu ymchwilio a chymryd camau priodol.
Yn olaf, wrth sôn am Draeth y Gogledd, dywedodd Janet
“Hoffwn i dynnu sylw at y gwaith rhagorol mae'r Cynghorydd Ian Turner wedi'i wneud ar ymgyrch y traeth. Rydyn ni eisiau tywod ar ein traeth ac mae bron i 6,000 wedi llofnodi’r ddeiseb hon!”
“Dwi'n credu bod y ddeiseb, a phobl y dref, yn sbarduno'r ymgyrch hon yn ei blaen ond mae angen mwy o lofnodion arnom ni.”
“Cefais wybod yr wythnos diwethaf bod Cyngor Bwrdeistref Sirol Conwy’n mynd i ariannu asesiad effaith economaidd ar gyfer rhoi tywod yn ôl ar y traeth, o ran cyllid amwynder twristiaeth, yn hytrach nag amddiffyn rhag llifogydd. Rydyn ni’n gwneud cynnydd, felly dwi’n diolch i'r gymuned am ei chydweithrediad parhaus.”
