Janet Finch-Saunders, Member of the Welsh Parliament for Aberconwy is delighted to have worked with Conwy County Borough Council and Arriva Wales to find a solution to changes to the 14 bus service in Penrhynside.
After a long campaign, which I included a major public meeting and petition hosted by Mrs Finch-Saunders, with many passengers raising concerns about the 14 service no longer serving their local area, the service will now be reinstated through Bryn y Bia Road.
Adam Marshall, Arriva Wales head of commercial, said: “We’re really pleased to say that service 14 will be re-routed to operate through Bryn-Y-Bia Road in July”.
Commenting on the news Janet said:
“I am extremely pleased to see that Arriva have listen to our local community, this really is a victory for everyone and I am honoured to have helped champion this result.
“The number 14 bus is a cornerstone of public transport in the area with a great number of residents relying on the service.
“The fact is that it was Welsh Labour’s 20mph speed limit that has caused such problems with bus operators across Wales having to review all their services to keep them as punctual as possible.
“Now the residents of Penrhynside who rely on public transport will be able to go about their normal lives un-impeded. It very much is a community success story, and I thank Conwy Council and Arriva for their cooperation”

Mae Janet Finch-Saunders, Aelod o’r Senedd dros Aberconwy yn falch iawn o fod wedi gweithio gyda Chyngor Bwrdeistref Sirol Conwy ac Arriva Cymru i ddod o hyd i ateb i newidiadau i wasanaeth bws 14 yn Ochr-y-Penrhyn.
Ar ôl ymgyrch hir, a oedd yn cynnwys cyfarfod a deiseb gyhoeddus fawr a gynhaliwyd gan Mrs Finch-Saunders, gyda llawer o deithwyr yn rhannu pryderon nad yw’r gwasanaeth 14 bellach yn gwasanaethu eu hardal leol, bydd y gwasanaeth nawr yn cael ei adfer drwy Ffordd Bryn y Bia.
Meddai Adam Marshall, pennaeth masnachol Arriva Cymru: "Rydyn ni’n falch iawn o ddweud y bydd y gwasanaeth 14 yn cael ei ail-gyfeirio drwy Ffordd Bryn y Bia ym mis Gorffennaf".
Wrth sôn am y newyddion dywedodd Janet:
"Rwy'n hynod falch o weld bod Arriva wedi gwrando ar ein cymuned leol, mae hon wir yn fuddugoliaeth i bawb ac mae'n anrhydedd i mi fy mood wedi cael helpu i hyrwyddo'r ymgyrch hon.
"Mae bws rhif 14 yn gonglfaen trafnidiaeth gyhoeddus yn yr ardal gyda nifer fawr o drigolion yn dibynnu ar y gwasanaeth.
"Y ffaith yw mai terfyn cyflymder Llafur Cymru o 20mya sydd wedi achosi problemau o'r fath gyda gweithredwyr bysiau ledled Cymru yn gorfod adolygu eu holl wasanaethau i'w cadw mor brydlon â phosib.
"Nawr bydd trigolion Ochr-y-Penrhyn, sy'n dibynnu ar drafnidiaeth gyhoeddus, yn gallu byw eu bywydau arferol heb rwystr. Mae'n stori o lwyddiant cymunedol, a diolch i Gyngor Conwy ac Arriva am eu cydweithrediad."
