Janet Finch-Saunders, Member of the Welsh Parliament for Aberconwy, is increasingly concerned about certain contractors involved in Wales’s ECO4 schemes, aimed at enhancing energy efficiency in homes.
In a cross-party meeting with industry stakeholders today, Janet highlighted the growing number of issues reported by constituents across Aberconwy regarding the quality of work being carried out in their homes.
Commenting on the news Janet said:
“I am deeply concerned to learn that some of the scheme installations are not up to standard. These UK government programmes are essential to ensure that Wales's plays its part on the journey toward Net Zero. However some installations are leaving householders upset and angry at the quality of the work carried out.
“There is ambiguity over whether the relevant certification and sign off required is being completed following installation. I am also deeply concerned that some works are not being carried out by certified contractors.
“I would ask my constituents to come forward with their experiences of these retrofitting schemes by emailing me as soon as possible.
“I am also calling on the Welsh Government to bring in stricter regulations to ensure that inferior standards do not become the norm.
“Clearly, someone needs to shine a light on this to ensure people can trust these schemes and continue to engage with them.”
